benefits of infant massage

Did you know that babies respond to massage even  
BEFORE they are born? 


During a Pre/Post-Natal Certification Class I was performing abdominal work on a woman who was pregnant and her baby instinctively turned over and exposed his back for me to massage! How absolutely AMAZING is that!!!

Research from the Mayo Clinic has listed the following as 
Benefits for infant massage:

1. Encourage interaction between giver and baby
2. Helps the baby relax and sleep
3. Positively affect infant hormones that control stress
4. Reduce crying
   
5. Can aid in bowel elimination (per Certification Class)

More research is needed, but some studies regarding premature babies, suggest massage (moderate pressure) may promote growth.


What a wonderful change positive touch can make on persons body.........regardless of their age.
