I have seen clients since our recent Chicago Marathon. What I have noticed is the damage done to their ITBands (Iliotibio-band). This is a thick band of fascia running from your hip to just below your knee. Underneath it lies very large muscles. When the ITBand gets extremely tight it can start pulling on those muscles. One major side effect can be excruciating knee pain. This is where many times shots can be prescribed to decrease the pain and inflammation. The symptoms are being address as opposed to the problem!!! I am still running the $20 discount of a massage for anyone who ran the marathon. Bring in your bib number or medal. To get in on the discount regardless if you were at the marathon or not send me a message on this website or on my facebook acct listed above!

Congratulations to all those who participated in the Chicago Marathon today, both runners and volunteers!!! I had the honor of volunteering at a Massage Therapy tent. I was once again in awe of what even 10-12 minutes of post-event massage can do for an athlete, especially one who has done such strenuous activity. We had runners come in limping sometimes, but I saw nothing but relief and gratitude when they left! Please check out my facebook page (there is a direct link at the top of this page) to see more information about the marathon and a massage special I am running right now. Message me on my facebook page and you (regardless if you were at the marathon) can also take advantage of the special!!!
