SLEEP is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT component of our Health!!!  Without enough sleep our bodies are unable to repair themselves. We take the time to get our cars repaired when they are not functioning correct, yet we don't take the time to let our bodies repair themselves so we can function correctly.
Make a conscious effort tomorrow to go to bed early and get a full nights sleep.  Then, do it again the next night and the one after that.  The results will be remarkable!

Eating healthier, not only is it good for your body, but you feel better!  Individuals claim to feel lighter and a measurable increase in energy.  I think we can all benefit from that extra boost of energy that so many of us are in desparate need of!!!

Stress Leading to disease

Did you know that stress can cause disease???

Stress is a natural part of life.  Our bodies have their own built in alarm system. If we perceive a threat-stress our body goes into protective mode.  Our response is a boost of adrenaline increasing our heart rate and Cortisol (our stress hormone), which suppresses our digestive system along with others such as immune system.  All of this happens so we can react to the perceived threat by: fighting or running away.  We don't have to be getting attacked for this 'alarm system' to go off, if for example we have a dead-line for work and are under pressure to get it done, this causes stress as well, so all of the things mentioned above still happen!  The problem, especially in our society, is we live in a constant state of stress.  Here is a list of possible outcomes from staying stressed:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Digestive problems
  • Heart disease
  • Sleep problems
  • Weight gain
  • Memory and concentration impairment (Mayo Clinic).
  •  Lower Immune Function and Bone Density
  •  Blood Pressure
  •  High Cholesterol (Christopher Bergland)

Stay tuned for ways to manage your stress!
